Batteries for high-tech transport applications
The project consisted of the development and production of a battery pack for a high-tech means of transport according to customer specifications with all certifications including UN38.3 test and the necessary safety features for a safe transport application. The aim was to develop a battery with high performance for a demanding application.
The special challenge was to design a suitable BMS (Battery Management System), which is above all compact and shockproof and thus suitable for use in different terrain. In addition, a special emergency stop system had to be developed to ensure that the battery meets the intended safety standards of the means of transport. An interface for reading out the battery data was also integrated. The battery has been designed and optimised so that it can also be used in off-road areas or in environments subject to vibrations.

Research focus
Our goal was to develop the complete battery design, the protection electronics and the appropriate integration into the customer application in-house, in order to guarantee all necessary safety for the use according to customer specifications in the application.
The BMS was designed and produced in such an innovative way that it also has an emergency stop function to provide optimum safety for the customer’s application. Special emphasis was also placed on the integration of the interface on the protective electronics with the respective readout options defined by the customer.
Our Solution
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack 14S7P with 50.4V / 20Ah with specially developed protection electronics built into the battery with individual cell monitoring to protect against overdischarge or deep discharge, short circuit and overtemperature.
The battery has been designed and developed by us from the prototype to the serial production and certified with all necessary safety functions in order to optimally meet the customer’s defined application.
