Project description
The project consisted of the development and production of a battery pack for a high-tech means of transport according to customer specifications with all certifications including UN38.3 testing as well as the necessary safeguards for a safe transport application. The goal was to develop a battery with high performance for a demanding application.
The particular challenge was to design a suitable BMS (Battery Management System) that is above all compact and shockproof and thus suitable for use in different terrains. In addition, a special emergency stop system had to be developed to ensure that the battery complies with the intended safety standards of the means of transport. An interface for reading the battery data was also integrated. The battery was designed and optimised so that it can be used in off-road or vibration environments.

Focus of research
Our goal was to develop in-house the complete battery design, protection electronics and appropriate integration into the customer’s application to provide all the necessary safety for use as specified by the customer in the application.
The BMS was innovatively designed and produced to also have an emergency stop function to provide optimum safety for the customer’s application. Special emphasis was also placed on integrating the interface on the protection electronics with the respective readout options defined by the customer.
Our solution
The rechargeable Lithium-ion battery pack 14S7P with 50.4V / 20Ah with specially developed and built-in protection electronics with single cell monitoring for protection against over- or deep discharge, short-circuit as well as overtemperature, designed with cable and plug and also an integrated communication interface for reading battery data.
From prototype to series production, the battery was designed, developed and certified by us with all the necessary safety features to optimally meet the customer’s defined use.
