Project description
The project consisted of the development and production of a battery pack according to customer-specific specifications with all certifications including UN38.3 testing as well as the necessary safety for measurement applications in the automotive industry.
The special challenge was to design a suitable housing that was above all compact and shock-proof and thus suitable for use in various terrains. In addition, a special holder had to be developed so that the battery could be installed in the intended measuring device. An LED display for reading the charge status and an interface for reading the battery data were also integrated. The holder can be fitted without tools or other accessories (e.g. screws). A simple snap-in system allows it to be used in a wide variety of areas and, above all, offers flexible attachment to the device.
Focus of research
Our aim was to develop the complete battery design, the protection electronics, the housing and the matching holder in-house, in order to ensure all the necessary safety for use according to customer specifications in the application.
The housing was designed and produced so innovatively that it has no opening possibilities for the end customer. This provides optimum protection against external interference. A special focus was also placed on the integration of the interface on the protection electronics with the respective readout options defined by the customer.
Our Solution
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack 7S4P with 25.6V/11.4Ah with specially developed protection electronics built into the battery with individual cell monitoring to protect against over- or deep discharge, short-circuit as well as overtemperature comes with cable and plug and also a communication interface integrated into the housing for reading battery data.
The battery was designed, developed and certified by us from prototype to series production with all the necessary safety features to optimally meet the defined use of the customer.
